About Kappa Delta
Kappa Delta Sorority was founded in 1897 at State Female Normal School, now Longwood University, in Farmville, Va. The thought that 125 years ago four young women could just sit down and create a sisterhood as enduring as Kappa Delta sometimes defies understanding, but that's exactly what they did.
Today, Kappa Delta is an impressive nationwide organization that reaches far beyond the local chapter. We have more than 288,000 initiated members, 168 active collegiate chapters across the country and more than 530 chartered alumnae chapters nationwide. Led by an elected National Council, hundreds of national volunteers and a professional staff numbering over 50, we have a network of sisters and friends around the world who come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Together, Kappa Deltas impact the lives of members and those in need around the world. Contributions to the Kappa Delta Foundation from alumnae, collegians and friends of Kappa Delta enable the sorority to further its philanthropic efforts, providing support for the sorority’s national philanthropies, numerous local community outreach programs, as well as scholarships and educational opportunities for members.
We have chosen to become Kappa Deltas because we believe that, in some way, all of us can be better together than each of us can be alone. That is the strength of Kappa Delta.

About Richmond, Virginia, Alumnae Chapter
The Kappa Delta Richmond Alumnae Chapter is a social organization established to keep sisters connected in the Richmond area! It is open to all Kappa Deltas from different chapters across the country who have settled in Richmond.This group will serve to plan social gatherings, philanthropic events, community outreach, and generally help ladies network with other professionals within our circle.Please ask your sisters from your respective chapters to join, as Richmond is one of the best places to be involved in a Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter with our connection to the Children's Hospital and our close proximity to so many Universities with KD on their campus.
